House Report - Autumn 2013

We completed redecorating all the main parts of the clubhouse in time for the start of the Centenary Year.

The 5 year electrical test has been completed which has thrown up many items requiring correction.

This is for three reasons ;

1) wrong installation in the past
2) changing regulations
3) corrosion

We are currently awaiting the cost of correcting the defects.

The use of the fruit machine has fallen to uneconomic levels and Council agreed to remove the machine.

Council have agreed to re-classify the area of the bar between the two brick pillars as a spike bar. A notice to this effect has been posted.

The barrier system is working reasonably well and is currently under a trial to determine if the current route is acceptable.

The capacity of the new electrical trolley store has been increased by 6. I am currently searching for a time release door mechanism to allow the doors to be kept open for a short period of time before automatically closing. Unfortunately we cannot rely on the members to remember to close the door if a retaining latch is fitted. Can anybody help?

The spike bar roof will be renovated shortly. We have been repeatedly repairing the flat section of roof facing the putting green but the felt covering is not standing but to the variable British climate and may have to be replaced shortly.

On a similar vein we have experienced two failures on our water main in the last three years or so and consequently we are obtaining quotes for replacing the water main on our land which is about 475m.

A draught cider has been introduced which is proving quite popular. Discussions continue with regards to manning the Half Way House throughout to assess usage and economics.
